In 1902, Italian immigrant Nicola Catena planted his first Malbec vineyard in the high desert of Mendoza - a grape that, at the time, was little more than a blending variety in Bordeaux. 

Four generations on, Bodega Catena Zapata is Argentina's oldest winery still in the founding family's hands, credited with resurrecting Malbec and pioneering the extreme high-altitude vineyards of the Andean foothills that redefined what Argentine wine could be. Its Adrianna Vineyard, planted in search of Mendoza's coolest terroir, has been called South America's Grand Cru - the only vineyard on the continent to produce six 100-point wines.

For one night only, that story comes to Auckland.

Hosting the evening is Tamara, the Catena family's representative for Asia Pacific. You'll hear the Catena story first hand, from Nicola's first vines to Nicolás Catena Zapata's pursuit of altitude, and the family's role in putting Argentine Malbec on the world map.
